Tintypes!

Learn the basics of wet-plate collodion photography to make photographs on metal. The wet-plate process was developed by Frederick Scott Archer in 1851 and continues to have a loyal following of practitioners. The workshop will cover how to pour and sensitize collodion, properly expose and develop your plate, and to apply a protective varnish. We will be working in a darkroom with chemicals so please wear old clothing and an apron that you don’t mind staining. Bring objects to photograph. Bring your own 4x5 camera, if available, or use one of ours for no additional fee. Included: $40 for materials
