From artist Lane Chapman: Inspired by observations of daily life, Lane’s work explores the symbiotic relationships of living organisms and their life cycles. Interested in the concepts of mutualism, life and death, she captures the beauty of the small world through sculpture and illustration.

From artist Anina Major: With references to the ecology of her homeland, the Bahamas, Major continues to investigate the relationship between self and place during her tenure Flower City Arts Center. Embracing the emotional complexities of living within the United States 100-miles border zone and Rochester’s historical role in the Underground Railroad, she revisits Stuart Hall’s definition of culture as routes. Through acts of imaginative rediscovery, the works explore themes of hybridity and cultural identity within the context of her personal migration. An installation of ceramic sculptures in relation to each other and their physical surroundings, prompts us to reconsider howone develop a deep sense of belonging.
