Expanding the Field

HIGH SCHOOL ART STUDENTS: DEVELOP YOUR SKILLS & COLLEGE PORTFOLIO IN A PROFESSIONAL ENVIRONMENT!

Expanding the Field is seeking rising freshmen, sophomores, & juniors of any African-American, Latinx, and/or Native American heritage, as well as any student who identifies as one of color, to apply for free classes, mentorship, and facilities access at Flower City Arts Center. Expanding the Field supports access to visual arts resources— increasing healthy diversity of college-level visual arts programs and future leadership in the professions of Ceramics, Printmaking, and Photography.

Accepted students meet every Friday from 3:30 - 6pm for one-on-one mentoring support to ensure students achieve their goals and participate in specialized workshops and/or group projects. Students will also be expected to take one FREE class in Ceramics, Photography & Digital Arts, or Printmaking & Book Arts per quarter during the 2023-2024 school year and in Summer 2024 to build up their portfolios. Additionally, all students will have access to guided open studio time after school on any day that fits their schedule to work independently or as a group. Transportation subsidy is available, based on need.
