40x40 Fundraiser

Founded in 1977 by Anne Beach as Cucumber Alley School of Printing, the Photography program at Flower City Arts Center (formerly Community Darkroom at Genesee Center for the Arts & Education) celebrated it's 40th anniversary in 2017!

As we reflect back on the past 40 years of bringing thoughtful photography programming and services to our community we have our sights set on the future! What will the next 40 years look like? To help us continue our mission and enhance our programming we need YOUR help.

Your donation will directly support:

  • Enhancement of adult and youth programming
  • New ventilation system for the Ball Room darkroom
  • Upgrade lighting system in the Silver Den - our alternative process space
  • Upgrade the Lighting Studio with new ceiling tracks for strobes
  • Large format lenses for the 4x5 cameras so we can expand our classes
  • 6 digital cameras for new kids classes (under 12yrs old)
  • New heat resistant glass for the Omega D5s in Dan's Room darkroom
  • 2 new digital projectors for classes

We're putting your money to good use! Since the launch of our fundraiser June 2017 we have:

  • Moved our Lighting Studio in to a new bigger and brighter space! With this move we painted the walls, purchased a new rolling shelving unit, and purchased new accessories. Our members have been actively using the new studio since July and our Basic Studio Lighting class has greatly benefited from the new space.
  • Purchased Lightroom & Final Cut for the digital labs. Our NEW Intermediate DSLR Photography class has been using Lightroom since September and this winter we're offering our VERY FIRST Final Cut: Intro to Video Editing class!
  • Purchased 2 new air conditioners. Our students, members, and staff thank you! It was a hot summer.

As of January 2, 2018 we have raised $11,121.

Thank you for your support!
