Registering for Classes at the Flower City Arts Center

You can register for a class online, by calling us or visiting in person. We currently do not accept class registrations through email. Seats may not be reserved until payment has been received in full. Minimum age of 14 for adult classes. You must pre-register for all classes.

We suggest contacting us in advance of registration if you have questions about any of our classes to ensure the best possible placement and class selection.

The Flower City Arts Center is accessible and welcomes people of all abilities. If you are registering for a class and you need special accommodation, please be in touch at least 7 days prior to the class by emailing mmcmahon@flowercityarts.org or calling us at (585)244-1730.

Sign language interpreters are available for all classes; advance registration of at least 10 days and notification is required. Please call the Main Office at (585)244-1730 or email mmcmahon@flowercityarts.org with questions.

Registering for Membership

If you register for a membership - at all Membership levels, you will maintain your privileges for 1 full year beginning from payment date. If you have a credit card on file with us to auto-renew, your membership payments will continue each year until auto-renew is turned off. If you do not choose to auto-renew, your membership will cease. Memberships are non-refundable.

Infectious Disease Awareness

If you are not feeling well, we ask that you please keep yourself and your community safe by staying home. We have a box of free blue medical masks in our main hallway for those who would like one. We also have air filters stationed throughout the Center.

Makeups for missed classes

There are no makeups for missed classes due to student illness, travel or other circumstances.

Payments

Payment is due in full at the time of registration. The deadline for all classes and workshops is seven days before the class starts. To register less than 7 days ahead, please call us to check if openings are left. Class size is limited, so please register early.

Payment Methods
We accept cash, personal check, and Visa/Mastercard.
Checks can be made out to Flower City Arts Center. A $25 fee will be charged for bad checks.

Tuition Assistance

The Flower City Arts Center is pleased to announce we offer tuition assistance to those who qualify. Download the form here. Please note that only (one) Tuition Assistance scholarship per household will be awarded to any applicant per year, thank you.

Class Refund Policy

A full refund is given in the unlikely event we have to cancel a class. If you wish to withdraw from a class, you must cancel one week (7 days) before the first meeting for a full refund minus a $20 registration fee. No refunds are given after this time. Prorating is not available. Extenuating circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Refunds will be made within 30 days.

Promotional Photography

Students are occasionally photographed or filmed during classes for promotional purposes. By enrolling yourself or your child in a Flower City Arts Center class, you grant permission for you and/or your child to be photographed or filmed for this purpose. You must write to Flower City Arts Center's main office regarding any restrictions.

Photography & Digital Arts Orientations

One hour orientation ($25) is required of all new users interested in being authorized to use the Lighting Studio, Digital Labs, Community Darkroom, and Silver Den outside of our classes. If, during the orientation session, our staff feels you do not have enough experience in a particular area, you must take a class or private lesson to continue with the authorization process.

Ceramics Studio

Pottery students enrolled in any class can schedule a time to attend the open studio. Hours are Mon - Fri 10 am - 5 pm and Sat Noon-4 pm. All persons who participate in Open Studio are responsible for cleaning up before they leave. Please call the Ceramics office to reserve a time.

$15 Ceramics Tool Deposit

Students will receive their own set of tools at the first class meeting with a deposit of $15. The deposit will be returned on the last class meeting with the return of the cleaned and complete set of tools in their original bag. If the student wishes to keep the tools, has not cleaned them, or has damaged them beyond repair, the deposit cannot be returned.
