TRAC: Birds Outside My Window for kids

THIS CLASS WILL RUN ONLINE AS SCHEDULED VIA ZOOM. Get on TRAC! The Rochester Art Collective is a FREE (thank you William & Sheila Konar Foundation!) 8-week afterschool program to cultivate an interest in visual arts by providing learning and mentorship opportunities to regional teens in areas of Photography & Digital Arts, Ceramics, and Printmaking & Book Arts.

Normal life is paused, and the best thing to do is to continue to create! For 6 weeks you will be led by artists to make multi-media work based on themes of isolation and freedom, in response to the quarantine. Using Maya Angelou’s Caged Bird poem as a departure, you’ll virtually design a cup (yours at the conclusion), construct a collage based zine, experiment with anthotypes, explore cell phone photography, and more – all the while using art materials you have around the house. These six weeks will culminate with a group show in the Firehouse Gallery in June, as well as featuring student artists in video interviews. This will be your opportunity to share your creativity with the community. This experience is FREE and available to 25 teens, ages 14-17. Tell your friends and let's create together.
