Clarissa Street, The Legacy

Exhibition Dates: June 3rd - July 28th, 2022 in None

Reception: Friday June 3rd, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. in 2nd Floor

Join us this June 3 from 6 - 9pm for the opening of Clarissa Street, The Legacy in collaboration with Teen Empowerment’s Clarissa Uprooted Project. This photographic exhibition explores Clarissa Street’s legacy in Rochester. While Sharon Turner’s pictures showcase 24 years of the Clarissa Street Reunion history, the Portrait Profile Project studies Clarissa Street through an inter-generational lens. 11 Rochester youth from the Flower City Arts Center's Expanding the Field program photographed and interviewed 11 elders from the Clarissa Street neighborhood. Students worked as professional photographers, learned how to transcribe, and transformed interview answers into narrative poems. This event is free and open to the public. Masks and proof of vaccination required upon entry. Also make sure to stop by the RIT City Art Space for the concurrent Clarissa Uprooted Project Exhibition! We look forward to seeing you at 713 Monroe Ave!
