Conversations with Artists

Exhibition Dates: January 16th - October 1st, 2015 in

Reception: Friday January 16th, 5 p.m. - in

Volunteers at Community Darkroom have re-imagined works of art by the likes of Georgia OKeeffe, Frida Kahlo, and others in their own photographs in an exhibit entitled Conversations with Artists.

Photo remakes are a unique form of artwork that draws inspiration from an existing piece--mostly paintings, but also photographs, poetry, and sculpture and reimagine that piece as a new photograph. The purpose is not to create an identical copy of the original, but to recreate its mood, its message, and sometimes to add a layer of personal interpretation, creating something deeper.

Participating photographers include:

  • Monika Ueffinger
  • Terri Sipone
  • Jennifer Banister
  • Rebecca Lomuto
  • Luna Galassini
  • Susan Andersen
  • Thomas Schaeffer
  • Jen Perena
