Landscape: Mind & Matter

Exhibition Dates: April 1st - July 1st, 2011 in None

Reception: Friday April 1st, 5 p.m. - in None

An exhibit featuring works by two photographers: Joe Ziolkowski and Christopher Schwer.

"The Okinawa Series" by Joe Ziolkowski

The series started as a result of me coping with the sudden loss of a parent. It also allowed me breaks from the responsibility I had of caring for my second parent as I suddenly became the primary care giver. Weeks after my second parent passed away due to medical complications, I traveled again for the 6th trip in as many years. The work is a record of the "Walk About" I had on the other side of the planet. These 4 x 5 inch black and white pinhole photographs give me the privilege to stop, look, pause, create and reflect on all the things that brought me to this moment in time."

Christopher Schwer

Christopher Schwer is a photographer and fine art photographic printer using traditional film based photographic processes to create large-scale segmented panoramic images of the landscape.

Constructing panoramic images from multiple frames allows the presentation of the landscape in a grand yet intimate style. These panoramic images represent the language of light, surface, depth and texture in a single finished print comprising a view across 180 degrees.

Existing within the landscape and experiencing all of the visual and tactile sensations that spark my emotional response a sense of wonder is ignited that compels me to photograph. It is that powerful sense being and place within the landscape that creates these images.
